This document is called “Guidelines on justice in matters involving child victims and witnesses of crime.” Guidelines are official advice and explain what should be done and how people should act in certain situations. These guidelines were created to help make sure that children who have been harmed by crime and children who have seen others harmed are protected and treated fairly when they tell their stories in a court of law. The document will also help protect children when they talk to the police, lawyers, social workers and anyone else they meet before and after they go to court.
