This Case discussion will be about  a girl K. , who is finishing the seventh grade. In April, after 10 years in a foster family in Velika Gorica, she was returned to her biological familiy. She was living in foster family with her older brother and sister, who are now over 18 and not in the treatment of center for social care. From the foster family she was returned to her own family, because foster mother lost the license due to police intervention in a family.

K. said she wants either to stay with the foster parents or to return home.

Martina Vidakovic (social worker)  will present the case in this Case discussion as she is leading the monitoring of family relationships, and Ms. Gordana Daniel, a licensed social worker and supervisor, will lead the process of the invention and finding adequate solutions to the case.

Learning points:

It is important to establish better conection with the center for social welfare related to better position the expert who presented the case - with the purpose of getting better help and support for the girl but also for the expert

Focus attention on the girl K. - work on her strengths, establish and continue good contact and be her source of support when she needs it

Because of self harm of the girl, work to ensure that the girl agree to get medical help and also talk about this issue with her social worker

Inform the girl about other methods - what you can do when you feel sad / helpless / scared.
