The Our Voices Research and Practice Network has been set up to establish a better understanding of the value and ethics of participatory interaction with youth affected by sexual violence. The network is orchestrated by the International Centre: researching child sexual exploitation, violence and trafficking (IC) at the University of Bedfordshire in the United Kingdom. The objective of the network is to provide support to researchers and professionals working with young people victimized by sexual violence and provides an arena for sharing and generating learning.
As part of its activities, the network will be hosting a series of case study discussions, which will be exploring ethical challenges in interactive tasks. The first discussion on June, 28, will delve into the concept of ‘power, ownership and control – when adults give young people a platform, how prepared are adults when they listen to what children have to say? These discussions will be open to a limited number of network members. To join this network, please register at https://www.our-voices.org.uk/network/join and email elizabeth.ackerley@beds.ac.uk to reserve a place for this event.
