Dear childhub colleagues, this is a topic to discuss and propose various topics for future webinars (which is certainly a very attractive method of learning). Besides mentioning our needs, we can certainly suggest topics for webinars that we (our team, organisation) can provide or organize together with the resource persons from the country.

Most probably, we all participated in this survey related to webinars - ChildHub is planning future webinars for child protection professionals. Which of the following webinars would you be interested in attending?

I will also copy+paste the topics:

  • Men Engaged in child protection: debates and examples from the region.
  • The challenges of safeguarding children: are we sure we are keeping children safe?
  • Closing a protection gap for children on the move in Europe.
  • "We are speaking – are you ready to hear us?" The challenges of involving children meaningfully in protection interventions and policies.
  • Juvenile Justice or how to deviate children from coming in contact with the justice system.
  • Child Protection Systems Analysis: an overview of various arguments and approaches.
  • Strengthening social service workforce for child protection.
  • Child Protection Index: development of an innovative tool for comparison of systems in South East Europe.
  • Deinstitutionalization: where to move from now on?
  • Supporting parents in vulnerable communities or how to better care for your child when you’re facing so many challenges.
  • Parents who use drugs and alcohol and its impact on children.
  • Working with children and parents who do not see the 'problem’: can we still address problems even if families are reluctant to engage?
  • Understanding mental health: the impact of mental health issues on parenting and family dynamics.
  • Working with teenagers who self harm: what are children trying to tell us?

Another topic that would be very useful for the team of Tdh Moldova and for other organisations in Moldova is related to Roma issues.

In response to Vesna's suggestion I would say that internet safety is becoming an issue to be imediatly addressed in Albania as well. In the last years World Vision Albania has invested a lot in research and training with regard to this topic therefore Sendrine, if you are planning to do something around it we could invite colleagues from WVA.

Also, I would like to add to the list that Arina has shared in this forum (thanks Arina) and was thinking that I believe that all the proffesionals in our region are doing a lot in prevention activities especially with the communities, schools and families. I find the famous Adverse Childhood Experiences study to provide a lot of great information in our work not only for awareness raising but also in advocacy work with policy makers and governments. The realities and data coming from that study (although done in USA at that time, but I read that there are countries in our region undergoing a similar study) are really shoking and worth intriducing and elaborated in a webinar.

Dear Arina,

thank you for this useful information. Do you think that it is ok idea that I contact them myself and present idea or it is better way you make a "bridge" beetwen us?

Dear Vesna and Sendrine,

The International Center for Women Rights Protection and Promotion “La Strada” from Moldova also has experience in this field. Here's one of their studies: http://childhub.org/child-protection-online-library/study-childrens-saf…

They have created a website dedicated to online safety. The information (advices, articles, resources, FAQs) on the website is addressed to children, parents and teachers. It is in Romanian and Russian http://www.siguronline.md/

There a child or an adult can contact a consultant via skype or chat. And it is also possible to report an abuse.

If you plan to have such a webinar, I think that "La strada" and their partners will be happy to contribute.

Dear Vesna,

Definitely this would be really interesting, we could probably find another organization who also works on the issue to contribute with you on this webinar. Let's pursue it further and thanks for the idea

Thanks a lot Arina for sharing, and thanks Maria for bringing this to our attention.

As you may know the Child Protection Hub  is currently undertaking a review of the social service workforce in the region, including in Romania. I'm including here the ToR of the research and findings will be ready by September/ October. We would be extremely grateful though to receive any ideas, inputs and contributions from experts and professionals from the region, so please do not hesitate to share with us at http://childhub.org/child-protection-discussion-forum/social-service-wo…

All the best

Hello, I would like to recomment a webinar on the issue of Children internet safety which could be provided by Brave Phone, as we are very active in this arrea from 2004. and have conducted 3 national researches together with Center for child protection Zagreb.

If any other country found it interesting, we can do it together.

Just thought I would add this;
I was looking into the social workforce situation in Romania and I found an article entitled "Prima analiză a sistemului public de protecţie a copilului relevă deficienţe de personal şi de cheltuire a banilor alocaţi" (The first public review of the child protection system shows weaknesses in personnel and where expenses are allocated). - link below

I read the summary of the report on the website, however the complete report does not exist anymore. Even if it's from 2013 shouldn't it still be available somewhere? Does anyone know?

Hello Chiara,

Welcome to the Child Protection Hub community, very glad to meet you here and thanks for the feedback. You will have seen that the first webinar is next week, so we hope you will have the opportunity to participate. We want to encourage people from the region to share their experiences, but you are also welcome to SUGGEST webinars on topics of interest or to suggest a speaker...in the SUGGEST AN IDEA box http://childhub.org/child-protection-hub/suggest-idea

All the best

The webinar takes place on May 29th, Friday at 11.00 CET and will last approximately 90 minutes. The language of the webinar is English.

All organisations and state authorities are challenged with the issue of how to involve children meaningfully in processes which affect them. Ms. Berina Ceribasic of the NGO 'Nasa Djeca' in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Ms. Valbona Carcani of Terre des hommes Delegation in Albania will speak about standards on how to involve children meaningfully and what their experiences are of forming and leading groups of children and getting them involved.

Please sign up for the webinar at http://childhub.org/child-protection-hub/suggest-idea

Looking forward to see some on the Hub!

Hello. Tdh Moldova is currently running a project on Roma children integration in the school and making the school a better place for Roma children. I think our team would really need to know more about Roma issues, integration of Roma people and children, etc. As far as i know our colleagues from Tdh Romania have good experience in that. Could be an idea for a webinar?
