In a 15 minutes video Dan Finkel explains the background of mis-education the math in schools. According to him, if people are not comfortable with math, they later do not have courage to question the authority of numbers, becoming easy victims for credit card companies, pay-day lenders or lottery, while at the same time having reduced carrier opportunities. This is why it is important to change the way the math has been taught in schools, from being “a descent into frustration” for students, to be an “exhilarating journey of discovery”. To achieve this he offers 5 guiding principles for teachers, parents or anyone else involved in education.
