Ted Talks had featured Sanjay Pradhan of the World Bank, who had addressed an imperative question. How do we know development and aid funds are successfully delivered to the impoverished and the needy? The talk highlighted three imperative methods: Open Knowledge, Aid, and Governance.
In regards to knowledge, Pradhan states that nations no longer rely on traditional methods nor relies on the information granted to them by countries such as the United States, but rather Pradhan cites other strategies and programs utilized by other countries, such as Mexico's Oportunidades program. Furthermore, the talk presented interesting points regarding transparency. An example being budgets, where he argues that although a budget may be open to the public, it may not be accessible, for the difference underlines the difficulties for much of the ordinary public to understand a budget, and so is it really accessible? In addition to this, Pradhan notes the rise of technology, increasing public demand for information, and government transparency.
