Marking the World Day of Social Workers with the publication of the guide Supporting Social Workers in 2021

For social workers and practitioners, the previous year was full of challenges related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Although they had limited opportunities and resources for work, as well as protection materials, they managed to support their clients through personal contact or adequate web tools. They performed their work in the form of situation assessments and case management, in a professional manner, although they did not always have the direct support of their supervisors or others in their work.

As the number of COVID cases grew, which could have been predicted given the danger posed by this pandemic, so did the number of practitioners under great stress and anxiety. Unfortunately, this was not adequately recognized by the competent authorities.

Thanks to all the amazing social workers and practitioners, Community Care, together with UNISON, the public service union, has produced a free resource written by experts, full of tips, advice and guidance, called 'Supporting Social Workers 2021'. This guide is a kind of digital guide for social workers and practitioners, with specially designed tools to support and benefit their mental health.

Click to download guide Support for social workers 2021. The 20-page guide can be read like an online magazine or downloaded in PDF format.
To better present the benefits and uses of the guide, UNISON and Community Care recorded a short podcast, available here.
