Child Protection moves into kindergartens: Hungary

The Hungarian daily 'Magyar Nemzet' reports that very soon there will be social workers in kindergarten and schools in order to identify at risk children and develop the skills of children with serious social and cultural disadvantages - while also keeping in contact with the families.

According to the information of the news portal, the Ministry has just recently announced a HUF 1,7 billion (Euro 550,000) call for proposals to allow local governments hire social workers in their educaitonal facilities.

The President o the Association of Child and Family Services is quoted saying that it has been their long-term request to introduce social workers into schools, not only school police officers, as social workers have an important role in prevention and identification of risks.
