Certain words & phrases attract child predators.
Parents can set the privacy settings on Facebook to 'extreme,' ensuring that posts are only seen by family and friends, and omitting hashtags. If, however, they decide to share, they should be very careful what and how to post. Carly Yoost, CEO of The Child Rescue Coalition, says ‘It could be over-exposing our children online and […] making them searchable for predators […]". She suggests asking ourselves, ‘Is there information in these pictures or in the messages that I'm posting that is over-exposing information about where they go to school, where they live, or their identity which can lead predators [to them]’.
The Child Rescue Coalition created a list of online hashtags used by child predators. Avoid hashtags like: #pottytraining101, #kidsbathtime, #nakedtoddler, #kidsbedroom, #childbath or #bathtimefun.
