Interviewing children is a highly sensitive issue, and even experienced interviewers struggle to obtain necessary information without re-traumatizing children. Have you ever thought about how it would be helpful to practice interviewing children, to test different techniques and observe the effects, without risking a child’s wellbeing? We are excited to tell you that this is now possible with Avatar based interview training!
The first 30 people to register will be invited to take part in a demo/test – an easy and engaging exercise! Fill in a short registration form here and we will contact you to confirm your place in the demo. It only takes 2 minutes to register, so be quick to ensure your place among the first 30! You will need a computer, internet connection and the latest version of Firefox on your computer.
Before the session you will receive a link to access a web conference. Pär Stihl will greet you and explain how the system works and how to go forward. After this discussion, you will be able to access the Avatar room. Here you will meet Carl, a virtual child controlled by an instructor who can adjust his mood and behaviour. During each session, 2–3 participants can interview Carl, one at a time, while the rest listen and observe his reactions. After the session ends, you will have a joint summary and feedback session to reflect upon the experience, your opinion, comments and impressions of the Avatar system. The entire session will last approximately one hour.
The deadline for registration is 16 March, but we advise you to be quick as there is a limited number of spaces!
