Seven Kosovo journalists were honored with prizes by a Coalition of NGOs for Child Protection in Kosovo, known as KOMF, due to their work in the field of child protection. Journalists supported by the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN) released investigation videos or articles over violation of children rights. Two of the most evaluated works were those of Behar Mustafa who came up with TV reportage, “Smuggling Children to Italy” and his colleague Agon Sinanaj with the article titled “Forgotten children”.

Awards were given as part of “Strengthening Social Services for Vulnerable Children and Families” project, which is funded by the Swiss Embassy in Kosovo and implemented by KOMF.

“Smuggling Children to Italy” reveals how underage children are transported illegally out of their country to Italy. Interviews of Italian police and prosecutors explain the whole process of the crime.

“Forgotten children” goes inside livelihood of families caring for children with disabilities displaying all hardships they live with. This heart touching paper is a call for all authorities to do more for impaired children.
