[Kosovo] The Parents Council calls to stop using schoolchildren in political campaigns

16 Oct 2017

There is an ongoing phenomenon of children being used for election activities in Kosovo during 2017 central and local elections. Children and students are being used to distribute and publish posters, pamphlets, or candidate cards and are also included in photos in marketing campaigns. Based on current information, this phenomenon is evidenced at all the main political parties that are competing in local elections.

President of the Council of Parents in Kosovo, Bajram Beqiri, addressed today the political leaders, candidates running for municipal posts in October 22 elections, including teachers and students not to be manipulated for election campaign purposes. Kosovo is in the process of pre-election campaign, for election of mayors and members of municipal assemblies.
