At its 91st session, the Government of Montenegro adopted the Report on the implementation of the Strategy for the Prevention and Protection of Children against Violence 2017-2021 with the Action Plan for 2017. The Strategy applies to all children under 18, regardless of gender, nationality, level of functional abilities or sexual orientation. Out of the total number of the activities planned for 2017, 88% was realized. The report stated that the number of cases of child victims of violence reported to the centres for social welfare increased by 20 % between 2016 and 2017, while the number of reported cases of child neglect increased by 39%. In the same period, the Ministry of Health started strengthening the home care services and the development of an internal protocol on the work of health care institutions in prevention and response to violence against children, and the Ministry of Interior issued the Guidelines for the work of the competent institutions in cases of identifying and prosecuting child marriages and domestic partnership. The Report also contains recommendations for the next stages of the implementation of the strategic document.
