From 1997 to 2013 at least 1,400 children from Rotherham, England, have been sexually exploited, as emerged from last year's report. Sarah Champion, the city’s Labor MP, thinks that there could be up to a million victims of child sexual exploitation in the UK, calling it a “national disaster” that requires the establishment of a task force to deal with the “horror.”
The reason for the covering up of the events in the recent years has been attributed to the fear of the 'race issue', as many of the perpetrators were Pakistani. In several occasions, the police refused to believe the accusations made by young girls, while the ones who raised concerns lost their job.
Investigations and new reports are now being carried out on what, according to the Frontpage mag, is far more than sexual abuse, involving into the trial the whole country.
