On the 29thNovember 2018, 14 teenagers (ages 15 to 18) organised and facilitated an event to celebrate their one year work against bullying within the project ‘Plan Z – heroes against bullying’. This project was implemented in Romania by Terre des hommes Romania, World Vision Romania and Save the Children Romania.

Plan Z is a multi-agency international pilot working towards the goal of ending Violence Against Children (VAC) by running Child-Led Innovation Labs in local contexts. These Innovation Programmes aim to create products and services which work towards ending violence against children by putting children at the heart of the design process in identifying the problems they face around VAC, coming up with solutions which tackle these problems, collaborating with innovators to bring their ideas to life and then advocating for their use and development in civil society. By working together on both a local and global level, we hope to foster collaboration and instill change in our organisations’ ways of working through the sharing of experience, expertise, ways of working and funding.

The 4 videos present children’s journey through the Plan Z Romania and describe the innovative solutions that the children identified and implemented to end bullying as a form of violence against children.

Forum Theatre: is a form of theatre that enables the interaction and debate, being in the same time a tool for social intervention where the audience could intervene, substitute characters and change the sequence of events. It is important to highlight that the children actually wrote the play and performed it on stage in front of a diverse audience (e.g. at children and adults at the Replika theatre, students and teachers at Gheorghe Lazar National College)

Role Play: the scenarios were presented to and performed by secondary school age children who were able to experience both being the bully and / or the bullied, to emphasise with the bullied and to reflect about ways to act to stop the bullying phenomenon in their school

ChildLine in School: the phone line was designed to be used by pupils to report any cases of bullying involving them and / or others in the school and all cases were investigated by a panel consisting of head teacher, class teacher, community police officer, psychologist and students representative. All students of the school where the ChildLine was implemented took part in a photo contest to inoculate core messages against bullying and the most inspiring ones were awarded.
