Last school year took place in the program called "School after school". After evaluation, the Cluj-Napoca municipality considered it successful in all aspects and plans to extend the program to other schools in the following years. The children participating in the program were less absent, and their learning outcomes and behaviour improved. The program also aims to help disadvantaged children to catch-up.

During the 2013-2014 school year, the program ran as a pilot program in School Traian Darjan. Between 2015 and 2019 the municipality annually expanded the number of participating schools. The after-school program was run by the municipality social directorate, in partnership with NGOs and schools, and reached children in grades 0-8 in Cluj. During the program, the children got help with their homework, had lunch, participated in workshops, and learned the basics of personal hygienics. The professionals involved parents as well, giving them advice and information on children’s education, and other child-related issues.

The after-school program will continue in the 2019-2020 school year too.
