In recent years, Romania has experienced a massive economic migration of population to countries with a more developed economy. One negative effect is the so-called phenomenon of "home alone children": children with one or both parents working abroa. The absence of one parent affects in many cases social life, emotional well-being and educational development of children.

With the support of The Velux Foundation, in 2015-2017, Save the Children implements a new project for children with parents working abroad, providing protection and education to children affected by migration of their parents.

Save the Children has launched a helpline 0800 070 040 and also an online platform www.copiisinguriacasa.ro
