Ever since 2007, the World Social Work Day is celebrated each year on the 3rd Tuesday of March. The initiative was approved by the member organizations of the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW) back in 2004 with the idea to mark achievements of the profession, and to defend social justice and human rights [1].

Each year, a specific theme is agreed to lead the campaign along the activities organized by social workers all over the world such as the event at the United Nations through the collaboration between the three international organizations the IFSW, the International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW) and the International Council of Social Welfare (ICSW), among others.

This year, the World Social Work Day falls on 21st of March and its theme is Respecting Diversity through Joint Social Action. The United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD) teamed up with the Geneva and Friboug Schools of Social Work and its international partners to mark the Day at UN in Geneva.

The meeting will take place on 15 March, 10:00 to 15:00, online and registration for attendance is FREE. Speakers from Canada, Island, Geneva, South Africa, Zambia will touch upon many important topics such as reflective practice, migrant rights, crisis context and the future prospects of social work.
