According to a national study on the phenomenon of bullying, conducted by Save the Children in 2016, one in four children has been publicly humiliated in front of others, and three in ten students were threatened with beating by other colleagues. In addition to this, hate speech towards vulnerable groups is currently on the rise in the Romanian society, especially in the online environment.

To combat the phenomenon of bullying among children, whatever form it may take, Save the Children Romania has launched a project competition in schools, held under the title "No hatred, with tolerance". The contest will run from February 7 to March 24, 2017, and calls for participants - children and adolescents - from the following school cycles:

  • Batch 1: primary school;
  • Batch 2: secondary school;
  • Batch 3: high-school.

To enter the competition, children and youngsters are advised to access the web platform Ora De Net, where complete rules can be found. The competition is organized to mark the International Day of Safer Internet and falls in the global movement to fight hate speech.
