In the past year, 300 educators from 60 preschool institutions, primary and secondary schools throughout Serbia, have been trained to recognize and take recommended activities and measures related to discrimination in the educational environment.

The training for principals, professional educators, teachers, pedagogical assistants and other employees in educational institutions was preceded by the training of 20 educational advisors and inspectors, who then transferred the acquired knowledge, but also their professional experience from practice.

The training was accredited in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development and the CIP Center at the Institute for the Advancement of Education.

"Education has a key role in stopping discrimination and spreading a culture of respect for diversity and human rights throughout society, and employees in educational institutions have a key role in the process of introducing changes and transformations in and through education. Trainings of this type, as well as guides, are necessary because they raise awareness of the importance of timely and appropriate response to discrimination. It is very important that educational advisors and inspectors were included in the trainings, as trainers and mentors, because in that way, in addition to knowledge transfer, closer cooperation is achieved and efficiency in implementing anti-discrimination procedures is increased, "says Petar Antić, project manager of this project.
