The Network of Organizations for Children of Serbia (MODS) is an association of organizations dealing with the protection and promotion of the rights of the child in Serbia. The main mission of MODS is to ensure the rights are exercised, improve the position and improve the quality of life of children in Serbia. This organization is also a member of the European networks Eurochild and Childpact.
This year, the Network of Organizations for Children of Serbia held its regular Annual Assembly in Kragujevac on 16 and 17 November. The main activities of the Assembly were the presentation of the report of the organization's work presented by the director Stefanovic Sasa, presentation of the report of the management and supervisory board, the election of a new member of the supervisory board, adoption of the act on the detailed determination of the conditions and procedures for admission to membership, exclusion from membership as well as the rights and obligations of the MODS members and the adoption of the MODS guidelines for the protection of children's rights. The Assembly was presented five new potential members who were unanimously admitted to membership. The Network of Organizations for Children of Serbia currently consists out of 101 organizations that have a common goal. Also, two working groups were held where participants discussed how to improve the work of MODS. Organizations have provided their suggestions and comments that the Network of Organizations for Children of Serbia will strive to implement in its future work.
It is very important to note that since its inception, MODS has played a major role in drafting legislation in the field of children rights in the Republic of Serbia, and that the president of the MODS Board of Directors, the Deputy Executive Director of Praksis Mikovic Jasmina, in 2018 was elected to the Council for the Rights of the Child of the Republic of Serbia.
In addition to this, the Annual Assembly of the Network of Organizations for Children of Serbia was an opportunity for the members to meet again, to present their work, to exchange their experiences and to realize or to strengthen their mutual cooperation.
