‘PressTV’ reports that a Turkish lawmaker says one third of Turkish women have married when they were underage. The lawmaker believes that old traditions and economic factors are among the main reasons behind the issue.It seems that Turkey has already developed the necessary legal infrastructure to prevent the child marriages, but the issue is how to implement the related regulations. Experts believe that the elimination of child marriage in Turkey cannot be realized only through legislation and a wide range of economic and social factors should be considered in any effort to achieve the goal.
