[United Kingdom] Children still not reporting sexual exploitation, NSPCC warns

13 May 2017

Metro story had recently revealed that some of the United Kingdom's most vulnerable children are unaware of much of the grooming and sexual exploitation they endure. The article cites the NSPCC, which highlights how almost 2,000 minors have been assisted by the Protect and Respect service, which was established in 2011. Through this service, children possess more knowledge and awareness regarding exploitation and further enables victims to recover from such abuse. Exacerbating the perpetual issue of sexual abuse, is the dramatic under-reporting occurring among victims, however the Protect and Respect Service has greatly assisted to alleviate this issue, which is evident through the 1,866 children that have been helped by this service.
