A NSPCC health reviews survey about pregnancy and a child’s first year revealed that only 6% of mothers received the 5 check-ins from qualified health professionals that all families in England are entitled to. Others met with a new care provided each visit, who asked about their feelings through non-personal means (letter, call, text message). As a result, they feel they cannot trust health professionals enough to share their problems and speak about their mental health.

The NSPCC Fight for a Fair Start Campaign emphasizes the necessity of urgent government help to invest in public health so that everyone can access the appropriate care they need.
