Migration Policy Institute(MPI) published a toolkit on integration of migrants and refugees in the European societies. The report was produced for a meeting of the Integration Futures Working Group – an MPI initiative aiming to connect relevant actors in this field, from policy makers to civil sector representatives and private sector to re-think the current integration approaches and encourage new, innovative ideas and solutions.
In this toolkit authors make an argument on why integration policy making needs an update, present some new tools for achieving this, like designing low-cost interventions, services tailored to the users actual needs, innovative funding models, planning for the future and unknown, cost benefit analysis and evaluation. Finally, the report discusses managing complex partnerships in a new migration landscape and provides a set of key conclusions. The key target group is integration policymakers, but also anyone working in this field or interested to learn about the new trends and approaches.
According to the report, innovation policymakers will be one of the few decisive factors when it comes to enhancing cohesion in communities all around the Europe. According to the report “to do more with less, integration policymakers can borrow leading-edge practices from other policy areas and from emerging lessons on government innovation”.
