The purpose of this guidebook is to prevent juvenile delinquency among preadolescent and adolescent children, and is directed at psychologists working in schools and psycho-pedagogical assistance services.
The guidebook contains two sections.
The first one includes theoretical information about juvenile delinquency, types and risk factors; types of juvenile delinquency prevention programs; aspects related to age particularities in preadolescents and adolescents and information regarding parenting styles.
The second section of the guidebook brings a series of practical activities that the psychologists working in schools and psycho-pedagogical assistance services can conduct in schools, with the children, their parents, and with mixed parents and children groups. These proposed activities use the knowledge and experience of psychologists working with target groups and are based on the ability of professionals to manage sensitive problems that can come up when approaching these subjects. The activities were developed with the contribution, suggestions and examples of exercises of the participants to the „Prevention of juvenile delinquency” seminar organized during October 31st – November 3rd, 2016.
The Guidebook for Juvenile Delinquency Prevention has been drafted with the support of the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives.
