On April 17th, 2018, a new European Commission report on Serbia's progress in Euro-integration was presented. The purpose of the report, which relates to the period from the end of 2016 to the beginning of 2018, is to assess the implementation of reforms on the way to EU membership.
When it comes to basic rights, the report states that it is necessary to give priority to the rights of the child: to draft a National Action Plan for Children and the National Action Plan for the Protection of Children against Violence; improve coordination and supervision of the child protection system and ensure the effective implementation of existing laws and policies; ensure greater respect for children's rights in institutions.

The report also stated that Serbia is in the process of granting observer status to the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA), which plays a significant role in facilitating the implementation of basic rights in practice for all citizens of the European Union.
The Network of Children's Organizations of Serbia - MODS will in the following period produce and publish a more detailed overview of the European Commission's report in the part relating to the situation of children.
