Country Reports

Violence among children has a considerable influence on optimal child development and education. As this phenomenon is widespread South Eastern Europe, it is important to understand, in depth, the factors that affect it. Because of the complex nature of violence itself, to understand this phenomenon one must look at its social, cultural and economic roots. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the social and gender norms impacting school-related gender-based violence (SRGBV), and the potential role of children in challenging these social norms. This study was conducted in Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Moldova, Romania and Serbia. Child Hub has partnered with the Institute for International Child Rights and Development to address this critical issue through research.
