The Welsh Government issued a Consultation document on the topic of safeguarling children from sexual exploitation. The Consultation document is related to the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014, in particular part 7 of the ‘Act – safeguarding children from child sexual exploitation'. The document provides guidance for professionals working with children to identify and prevent abuse, protect children and meet the needs of children at risk or abuse. The document covers following topics:

  • Understanding Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) as a form of child abuse
  • Prevention of CSE
  • Responding to CSE by: 
    • Putting in place safeguarding procedures
    • Putting child needs and interests in the center 
    • Combating CSE through disrupting networks of perpetrators and providing support for child vicrtims of CSE
