This webinar will be of great help and interest to those who want to, or are in the process of developing a strategy for EU advocacy on child protection. Olivia Lind Haldorsson and Rebecca O’Donnell, co-founders of the Brussels based child protection NGO Child Circle, will talk about advocacy and opportunities to advocate for child protection in EU internal and external affairs.

Learning points from the webinar include:

  • A basic understanding of what advocacy is
  • A basic understanding of the advocacy cycle - how to plan and evaluate your advocacy
  • A basic understanding of the EU role, instruments and actors in EU internal and external affairs and what opportunities there are to advocate for child protection

About the lecturers:

Rebecca O Donnell is an Irish lawyer, who has been working on EU law matters for over 20 years in Brussels.  She is the co-founder of Child Circle, a Brussels based NGO focussing on child protection in EU law and policy (www.childcircle.eu).   From 2007 to 2013, she worked with Save the Children EU Office, where her work focused on EU asylum and migration law and policy. She also works as an independent expert with a wide range of stakeholders on strategic advocacy initiatives and regional projects in the field of EU Justice and Home Affairs policies (www.odonnell-lind.eu).

Olivia Lind Haldorsson is a human rights advocate who has been working in the field of children’s rights and child protection for 20 years in Brussels. She is the co-founder of Child Circle, a Brussels based NGO focussing on child protection in EU law and policy (www.childcircle.eu).   From 2002 to 2013, she worked with Save the Children EU Office, where her work focused on EU Justice and Home affairs and EU external affairs.
