About the webinar:
Kinship care is a term used for the raising of children by grandparents, other extended family members, and significant others with whom they have a close family-like relationship. Kinship placements are usually considered when the parents are not able to care for the child(ren). But what if the carer lives in a different country?
Children and Families Across Borders (CFAB) has issued a guide on international kinship care placements and minimizing breakdown when looked after children are placed with family overseas.
Join our webinar to learn more about the best practises in the UK:
- the steps which should be taken whilst assessing potential carers overseas,
- recommendations for the ongoing relationship between the relevant authorities in each,
- barriers to permanency that would need to be considered before placement, or which would need additional support for the child and carer,
- inspiration for local authorities to explore and pursue international kinship care placements on a greater scale.
