About the webinar:
To commemorate International Migrants Day, TalkMigrantRights will hold a webinar on the main challenges and opportunities around ending child detention, and the role that UN and civil society can play to urge States to take practical actions to make this international standard a reality.
Special attention will be given to participant recommendations for the forthcoming Global Compact on refugees and Global Compact for safe, orderly and regular migration, which are in the process of being developed now by UN Member States.
The panel will be followed by a half-hour open discussion of participants joining online from around the world. The online discussion is free of charge and open to the public.
Online participants may send questions in via the chat function in the webinar, or via Twitter, using the hashtag #MigrantRights.
During both the panel and discussion, a series of short #MigrantRights campaign videos will be played that show the impacts, on a personal level, of immigration detention on children and families.
