The webinar The psychotic response as a defence mechanism and working with children focuses on the use of psychotic defences as a way of coping with intense frustration. Dependent on their parents’ reading of events, children rely on the parents’ initial interpretation of the unbearable bits of the outside world. Using the example of a family with two children, this webinar shows the impossibility of the parents to introduce reality to their children in a meaningful way which leads to the children’s psychotic withdrawal. The clinical vignette also demonstrates that timely intervention helps a qualitatively different psychological response in patients. The second part of the webinar examines the second generation’s way of thinking of their parents traumatic past while using the same psychotic defences.

The webinar is designed for psychologists, social workers, stdents and aims experience exchange and enhancing the profesional expertise of child protection practitionaires.

The webinar will be held on March 2, 2018. from 14.00 to 15.30 EET.
