Millions of children that move across international borders — fleeing violence and conflict, disaster or poverty, in pursuit of a better life — are particularly vulnerable, and therefore deserve special attention and protection. The unprecedented number of children who, since 2015, have arrived in countries across the European Union and beyond, has raised a new set of challenges in the field of child protection. Greece, as one of the states under particular pressure to host people in need of international protection — children included — has gained significant and valuable experience in dealing with child protection concerns.
Drawing on the above, and with the protection of children being a responsibility of all adults across different working sectors, this free E-learning course offers professionals and volunteers located in Greece, an opportunity to gain insight or reaffirm the importance and the basic principles of child safeguarding and child protection. However, anyone interested and/or engaged with the topic is warmly encouraged to take part in this online learning journey.
What is particularly unique about this course is the very interactive approach it adopts. Participants will be taught with many case examples (e.g. how to define risk categories) and practical scenarios (e.g. how to respond to abusive child experiences). An immutable part of the learning program is its reflective activities that ask what you would say or do in a given situation — questions which will remain on every participant`s mind even after the training has ended.
The E-learning course consists of two modules, each taking approximately 90 minutes. There are two ‘end of module quizzes’ on the information learnt. Finally, a participation Feedback Survey must be completed in order to access and download the Course Certificate. This takes only 5 minutes. The languages of instruction and assessment are English or Greek.
