The Red Cross of Serbia marked Anti-Trafficking World Day on Monday, July 30th, at one of the educational points in Belgrade, at Ada Ciganlija, on the route leading to the beach, a Safe Zone was formed, in which all citizens had the opportunity to be informed about the problem of trafficking in human beings and protection measures.

The Safe Zone had content for the youngest, so that through socializing and playing with Red Cross volunteers from Serbia they could learn about safe behavior in risky situations. In the Safe Zone there was also a corner for parents/adults where they could learn about the problem of human trafficking through cases from Serbia from professionals from the Center for the Protection of Trafficking Victims. Innovative and interactive, the Red Cross invited all participants to pay attention to the challenge of trafficking in human beings and contribute to preventing this global problem. With the support of the UNITAS Foundation, educational materials are provided to be distributed to interested visitors.

Safe zones are set up throughout Serbia at picnic sites, beach areas, city parks, and in front of the Red Cross premises in cities and municipalities, where volunteers invited citizens to join the international photo campaign of the Blue Heart and to form hearts with their hands to support victims of human trafficking around the world and symbolically show them that they are not alone.

The World Anti-Trafficking Day was celebrated for the fifth time, after it has been established in November 2013, under the resolution "Improving the coordination of efforts against trafficking in human beings", adopted at the 68th session of the United Nations General Assembly, in the context of raising awareness of the situation in which are victims of trafficking in human beings and in order to promote their rights (A/C.3/68/L.17/Rev.1.).

By continuing the implementation of information workshops for elementary and secondary school students, the Red Cross of Serbia seeks to protect young people from traps of human trafficking by passing preventive messages, and public events are call for everyone to contribute in response to this challenge.
