This video by The Alliance CPHA  "discusses best practices for interviewing children in various settings. It gives examples of how to implement the Free Narrative approach (i.e. a best practice for interviewing children), in order to minimize potential further harm done to a child and to maximize the amount of information recalled by the child". 

It provides a detailed outline of the Framework for Interviewing Children and Young People which includes the following steps:

  1. Introduction and establishing rapport
  2. Establishing ground rules
  3. Introducing topic of concern
  4. Free narrative
  5. Specific questions
  6. Closure

In addition, the video discusses potential barriers that interviewers face when interviewing children, and also provides tips for interviewers.
