The article presents a study identifying the factors contributing to the successful completion of secondary education of Roma children from the Iztok Roma neighborhood in Kyustendil.  Out of the 20 children in the Roma neighborhood who completed secondary education in 2013, 17 took part in the study.  They identified discrimination as the primary challenge they handled in school.  The support they needed for this was in terms of the family, friends – Bulgarian and Roma alike, school staff, the resources in the community, and the personal motivation.  The article presents actions undertaken by the team that were based on the findings of the survey aiming at encouraging more and more Roma children to enroll in and finish school.  The study was conducted by a multi-ethnic team under the Stopping Marginalization of Roma in Kyustendil through the Establishment of a Community Development Model Project.
