In Sarajevo, the Safer Internet Centre, was visited by the Ambassador of Sweden and the UNICEF Representative to see how its hotline and helpline respond to cases related to sexual exploitation of children. Being supported by the Swedish Government and the UNICEF, the centre developed a mobile application for children called “Super Safe” and produced an animated cartoon movie titled “All You Need to Know About Violence!”, which is also adapted for children with hearing impairments.
The Ambassador of Sweden to BiH said that violence against children is a widespread crime, which needs to be fought by developed societies, that is why they are funding such useful programmes. Dr. Rownak Khan, the UNICEF Representative said that now more than ever is fundamental to make online environment safer for children, adolescents, and youth. The Covid-19 pandemic made people and children in particular stay more time online and consequently be jeopardised multiple times compared to a normal situation. According to him, the government should pay attention to train child workers do their job better and correspond quickly to difficult changes.
