Terre des hommes Foundation, who supported over 16.500 children in 2019, wishes to extend its network of friends that help children in Romania and calls out for individual or corporate donors. You can help us by simply spreading the news (see also the ”swim online” option, as a fun way of raising money) or by donating money or services. We can also help in return, for example by offering CSR consulting.

Our projects in Romania are financed by institutional or private donors or other foundations, but in order for us to cover all our costs, we have to search actively for other sources. In our attempt of better helping more children in Romania, we would like, for example, to collaborate with the private sector, who could offer us services or sponsorships and to whom we can offer our experience in exchange .

Kirsten Theuns, Head of Eastern European Delegation: ”Our experience can be useful to companies, which we can assist in CSR activities or to whom we can even offer interesting training opportunities.  Terre des hommes created, for instance, the Movement, Game and Sports methodology, which develops soft skills and team work abilities for adults too. And it is a wonderful team building activity as well. I believe in the real collaboration between the NGOs and the private sector. After all, we can all share our experiences for the greater good, that of Romanian children in this case.”

These are the reasons why we need supplementary financing, even if we implement projects supported by institutions or other kind of donors.

  • For each project financed by institutions, Terre des hommes must contribute as well. A company could choose to help choosing from a project that is close to its values or even only a part of a project. The advantage -the project is already validated by a prestigious entity (as they are projects already selected)
  • We need financing in order to develop new ideas, proposals, to do research and analysis in order to identify  the needs of certain communities. Sometimes we notice that beneficiaries have needs that donors cannot cover and we would need to explore these needs before  creating a way to help them (a new project)
  • Not all donors cover our operational costs (staff, equipment, administrative costs)
  • The lobby activity that could produce changes or the fundraising itself need support, which is not always covered by projects.

How can you help us?
There are many ways by which a person or a company could collaborate with an NGO, for example by volunteering or oferring services such as audit, design for promotional materials or sponsoring events (catering). The goal, of course, is to bring more support to vulnerable children and any help would make a big difference.

Here are a few options:

  • Direct donations Since May 2020 we are on the Rohelp platform, where you can donate directly by card in order to help us buy hygiene products and other materials for vulnerable children that are affected by the Covid19 pandemic. For details please see here  RoHelp.ro is a new digital platform developed by the Code for Romania Task Force volunteers.
  • Have fun and do online fundraising We are looking for supporters for the fundraising event Swimathon, taking place online between May -June 2020 under the slogan SWIM at HOME ! Swimming will be exclusively online and your support will consist of encouraging your circle of friends to donate for the cause we chose -young people in difficulty who are currently in detention, in this case. We believe that ”Sports and games save their future” ! The Foundation is therefore inviting anyone who wishes to be a virtual swimmer and contribute to this fundraising  to enlist  here
  • If you are 18 -24 years old, our project of mentoring and integration for migrant children needs volunteers for the summer. Details here
  • Offer us the 3,5 % of the revenue tax you already pay ! You can still fill in and send the 230 forms, until June 30 ! The details for Terre des hommes Foundation : Fundația Terre des hommes -Elveția, Cod identificare fiscală 21184194, Cont bancar RO81BACX0000001027913000

If you wish to support us in any way, we would be happy if you contacted us. We are at your disposal at rou.office@tdh.ch or iulia.stancu@tdh.ch (Communication Officer). Any kind of help will be highly appreciated and we will welcome you in our network of friends!
