Protect every child’s right to learn in the COVID-19 response and recovery

This report analyses the impact of COVID-19 on the accessibility to education especially from the poorest and most marginalized children. The closure of schools for a lot of children also means the closure of safe places where they can have meals or get other social services.

New analysis for this report shows how COVID-19 may affect both the funding and the delivery of education in some of the countries most at risk of falling behind. As the most at risk countries are considered Niger, Mali, Chad, Liberia, Afghanistan, Guinea, Mauritania, Yemen, Nigeria, Pakistan, Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire.

This report urges for immediate action, otherwise the long-term consequences of the pandemic will be rising inequality and a devastating impact on children’s learning.
