Noema Agency have conducted a nationwide representative survey commissioned by the National Network for Children including both parents and young people / future parents and children. Among the most significant results of the study is that 88% of parents agree that slaps are not effective as a displinie tool, but still a large proportion of parents continue to apply them.
According to the study, although physical punishment has decreased over the last 5 years in Bulgaria, 2/3 of the parents have used it at least once. Also, 1/4 of all parents systematically apply "traumatic practices such as spatial isolation, non-interference in the event of injury, causing discomfort by staying in an awkward pose or subduing."
The study is being carried out within the framework of the project "Children Help movement Against Physical Threatening and Emotional Repression", which is being implemented by the PULS Foundation, Pernik. Project partners are the National Children's Network, EVRIS - Iceland, ADFP - Portugal and Hope for Children - Cyprus. The project is funded by the European Union's Rights, Equality and Citizenship Program.
