Although this news is almost two months old when it comes to mental health the most important thing is to have digits and experiences so that the best solution may be found.
The Covid-19 pandemic has had many bad influences on our society. The economic situation is not very good, many businesses have declared bankruptcy. The hospitals reach from time to time maximum capacity, doctors are tired, and many many other issues. This news by The Guardian focuses on the deteriorating mental health that is affecting adolescents.
The lockdown has been stressful for everyone and imagine a teenager who is at the beginning of his or her journey. The lack of socialization, boredom, and conflictual relationships within the household are definitely influencing if not deteriorating factors in this situation.
According to this news many children are suffering from a lack of sleep while some of them have developed OCD. One of the findings of a survey by the Mental Health of Children and Young People was that a quarter of children and young people suffered disrupted sleep, and one in 10 often or always felt lonely, with the children of parents who were struggling, financially or otherwise, at highest risk. Moreover, apart from these symptoms, the mental health services are not having enough capacity to face the many requests coming from adolescents and their families.
In conclusion, the main issue in all this problem is to prepare for the aftermath of this pandemic, expanding mental health services fast enough to deal with whatever emerges from behind closed bedroom doors, as the author of the article puts it.
