According to research, this past year has been a major challenge for young people. Restrictions have made it especially hard to do the things we enjoy outdoors, so it's no surprise people feel unmotivated.

Here are some tips for dealing with boredom:

  1. Be kind to yourself – it’s been a rough year for everyone – including you; you are not alone
  2. Pay attention to what you spend time on during the day, especially what brings fun to your life, and then spend more time on it
  3. Find out what really matters for you
  4. Do more of what matters – everyone has goals, so do you: do things that help you get closer to that goal
  5. Start doing something anyway – even small steps will bring you closer to feeling motivated
  6. Notice your feelings – reflect on yourself – how do you feel when doing things
  7. Imagine a positive future in details – and also the steps needed to get there.
  8. Focus on changing negative ‘self-talk’ from sentences like ‘I should’ to those that focus on why
  9. Make a commitment to others – sharing your plans and doing things for others can have a positive impact on your well-being
  10. Ask for help when in need – it is important to speak about your feelings of boredom and low motivation
It is not impossible to get motivated again
