- Recent series of inquiries and tribunals have raised awareness of Ireland’s sexual abuse history, yet problem prevails today
Issues raised:
- Combination of both an under-resourced child-protection and criminal justice system currently exists in Ireland
- Survivors do not receive the support or the safe space they need to speak about their trauma
- Most survivors of sexual abuse do not seek professional help
- COVID-19 pandemic has limited the available services even further, placing survivors of sexal abuse at increased risk
Underfunded Services
- Organizations in the likes of One in Four cannot meet increasing demand due to underfunding
