As part of the REVIS project "Responding to Violence against Children in Schools and Adjacent Settings", a three-day training was held from September 17th to September 19th, 2021, in Belgrade.
The training "Shifting social and gender norms related to violence against children in schools" was intended for 20 Facilitators (pedagogues, psychologists and teachers), from 10 schools in Serbia. The training was led by Slavica Milojević and Tatjana Lazor Obradović, experts in the field of social and child protection, and researchers who conducted qualitative research on school violence within the Child Protection Hub regional initiative in 2020. The training was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, which provides support for the implementation of the entire project in Serbia.
The aim of this training was to introduce school representatives to the REVIS project methodology used in workshops with children, on the topic of changing social and gender norms that lead to violence among children. During the training, participants were actively involved in all the sessions, and were highly motivated to devise concrete plans for future work with students.
The evaluation questionnaires confirmed that the training provided them with new knowledge and tools for conducting workshops on the topic of norms and violence, but also encouraged them to react when such situations occur in their schools.
