AFTER THE VIOLENCE - SPECIAL WEBINAR SERIES OF LINKÖPING UNIVERSITY

Through this webinar, you will get an introduction of a model that has been piloted and evaluated for multi-agency and multi-disciplinary coordination involving women shelter, social serviced and specialized services. Due to a first mapping that showed how cooperation around children at shelters indicates that there is room for improvement, especially seen from the shelter staff’s point of view.

In this webinar you will also gain knowledge about our educational package that has been directed to social workers. To increase awareness and knowledge about violence so that social workers know when to put in the right efforts.

Speakers:

Linda Jonsson, Marie Cederschiöld University, Associate professor of social work

Her primary research interests are related to assessment, support and treatment of children victims of abuse, especially sexual exploitation. Issues related to how different forms of inequality impact upon policy and practice as regards parenthood and children’s rights are also in focus in her research.

Catarina Berndtsson, Gothenburg City mission, Head of accommodation units and sheltered housing

She is a sociologist, with a long experience in both meeting and organizing activities to help victims of violence in close relationships specially with honor-related violence.

Every year, thousands of children stay at least one night at women’s shelters in Sweden with their guardian. At shelters, the violence stops, but as a child to have witnessed or they themselves been exposed to violence can lead to trauma later in life. A safe environment with healthy relationships with adults that understand the consequences of abuse may be a support for the child´s recovery.

In three webinars you will get insights in a project called AVEC where the model PUZZLE will be presented. The model seeks to improve protection and support for children at women´s shelters. To increase children´s mental well-being during and after their stay at shelters. This is done through five educational packages (the puzzle pieces).

The webinar series can be viewed independently of each other. The two webinars that have already been conducted has been recorded and will be available at childhubs youtube channel aswell as the Avec website.
