A high-intensity training program took place between 25 April and 5 May in 2023 in Budapest in the frames of the so-called WELL-U project. During the 8-day training, 14 participants acquired the renowned "Problem Management Plus" methodology developed by the World Health Organization.
With the help of Eleftheria Aravidou and George Kanaris (Terre des hommes Greece), the participants of the PM+ training learned a complex and still practical methodology in order to provide mental health assistance to refugees fleeing from Ukraine. All the 14 participants completed the training successfully. From now they will start volunteering and will be supported by supervision until the end of the WELL-U project (31 October 2024).
Problem management Plus methodology
PM+ is a low intensity, brief psychological intervention that can be provided by lay volunteer helpers. During PM+, clients learn strategies to help them manage practical problems, improve their mood by activating behaviours, reduce feelings of stress and anxiety, and strengthen their social support network. The PM+ method has been shown to be a useful tool for a range of emotional difficulties, improving aspects of mental health and psychosocial wellbeing.
The Well-U project is co-funded by the European Union.
