In an article published in The New York Times, children of all ages were asked about their home learning experiences. Each child chose words or created a drawing to express their feelings.

Some of them love the feeling of being free and spending time with their families. One girl named Alice said: 'I like being home because you can eat and drink while you are doing your schoolwork. And you get to do your homework with your sister.  You can ask mom or dad to help you, because they are both at home now. You don’t even have to raise your hand.'

But for others, online classes and technology can sometimes be overwhelming. 'I’m doing online learning through Google Classroom, and sometimes it’s difficult. My math problems won’t attach, the file didn’t save properly. But we have to work through that, and it’s necessary to help others.' - said Eleanor, who’s 14 years old.

Most of the children miss meeting their friends, but technology helps keep their friendships going strong.

Overall for these children, the virus and the uncertainty of the future is scary. For Rachel, this experience has taught her that 'nothing in life is promised'.
