Two young bloggers share their struggling experiences and advice related to emetophobia which affects people in different ways. Emetophobia is one type of phobia that means an extreme fear of vomiting, seeing vomit, watching other people vomit, or even feeling sick.

According to bloggers, their fears of being sick or watching people be sick gradually turned to absolute phobia and negatively affected their life. Even the possibility of these prevented one of the girls to leave the house for periods of time and to eat a lot of foods or drink alcoholic drinks. Because of this phobia, simple entertainment like watching a new film becomes a horrible experience for Aimee.

However, both girls could deal with the phobia by getting help and believing in their power. They consider that being capable to struggle with it makes you stronger and overcoming the phobia makes you braver.

Moreover, the bloggers give the following advice the persons who are struggling with emetophobia:

  • Your thoughts are not facts - the thing that’s scaring you might not be as bad as you believe. Someone being sick was never going to hurt me, but my mind made me believe it would.
  • It does not make you weak - Everyone gets scared. It does not make you weak, it makes you human. And being able to overcome this takes so much bravery and courage.
  • Don’t be afraid to talk - everyone has fears, and maybe more people than you think have a phobia. It’s normal, and please seek help or talk about it if you need to.
