Red Cross of Serbia produced the publication Collection of good practices, as a part of the exit phase of the Joint programme for inclusion of Roma children and children from vulnerable groups. The publication is illustrating the results Red Cross of Serbia achieved in supporting the children from vulnerable groups to enrol education system and enabling the continuity of their education. The results are visible in coverage of vulnerable children by education and in defining the models for their inclusion into local community.

For the last fifteen years the Red Cross of Serbia had been implementing the activities contributing to inclusion of children from vulnerable groups into the education system and local community, with the support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. The models at community level that lead to achieving this goal are presented in this publication.

During the implementation of the Joint programme the Red Cross of Serbia has contributed to inclusion in education and graduation from elementary school for more than 25,000 children. The project activities influenced the increase of enrolment of Roma children and children with disabilities in school, decreasing of dropout rate, psycho-social development of children and the development of tolerance and inclusive environment through promotion of human values in elementary schools. The programme had also encouraged the development of models in the local communities that are supporting the inclusion of children from vulnerable groups into the life of the community and as well the models that are enabling the community to recognize and mobilize its own capacities for supporting the most vulnerable.

This publication from 43 Red Cross branches is illustrating how the local community had actively participated in supporting the children and families from vulnerable groups and the resources for the joint continuation of this support after the project.

Joint programme for Inclusion, phase 3 had started in June 2013 and ended in May 2018. The programme was supported by the Swiss Government  with the total amount of 4,100,000 euro.
